How To Prepare For Your Consult| Chattanooga Lactation

Here’s what you can do to prepare for your visit with the lactation consultant:

During our sessions there is no judgment or pressure. There is only reassuring and compassionate evidence-based support designed to meet you at any and all points of your breastfeeding journey.

Please go to email and fill out Parent Registration from MilkNotes PRIOR to visit. This is your chart and how we will communicate after our consultation. MilkNotes is where you will receive your Care Plan within 24 hours. Followup’s-update chart before appointment as this is how I prepare for our consultations. Reminders will be sent via Email at this time.

Please start a full feed for baby 2 hours before the start of our appointment. If this doesn’t happen it’s okay. We can still do a lot. If weight concerns doing a weighted feeding is important part of the assessment to see what might be happening.

Please have available:

  • A written/App log of the past 24 hours (stools, feed frequency and volume, if pumping, pumping frequency and output).
  • If you are supplementing because baby is not latching, have a filled bottle with expressed breast milk or formula. I can heat up bottles if needed.
  • All tools you are currently using for feeding (nipple shield, Etc)
  • Your breast pump, all attachments, power supply if you would like to know how to use. I have a hand pump I can do my flange fitting, if time allows.
  • OFFICE Visits: Located at 9409 Apison Pike Suite 101 Ooltewah, TN 37363. I have 2 different kinds of nursing pillows and throw pillows for support.
Can I bring other kids to our office appointment?

We love children! To ensure we get the best use of our time together, I ask that you don’t have other children at these visits. It can be a distraction and interfere with the quality time spent on reaching your nursing goals. Please let me know if you need to bring your children. I would be more than happy to serve you if you don’t have childcare.

  2. Cancelation policy:When you book your appointment, you are holding a space on our calendar that is no longer available to our other patients. In order to be respectful of your fellow clients, please call or text Ashley Lucas as soon as you know you will not be able to make your appointment. 423-619-3622. Cancelation fees will apply $75 dollars if canceled less than 24 hours of appointment time. If Sickness, I will not charge you as I don’t want to risk getting sick or spreading germs. As long as. you reschedule no cancelation charge.

AFTER VISIT:

You may email or use secure messaging within your Parent Portal to communicate after our visit. Prefer texting for emergencies, if possible. I will get back to you as soon as possible. I will do my best to get back with you within 12 hrs or sooner.

All patients receive access to text support via email or Secure messaging in the portal with lactation help available 7 days a week.

Check your junk mail folder as sometimes my emails go to junk mail. I will sometimes email you and check in this way or through the portal.

You can view your care plan in the Parent Portal within 24 hrs or less after the visit.
