You can take the following steps to prepare for your appointment with the lactation consultant:
During our sessions there is no judgment or pressure. There is only reassuring and compassionate evidence-based support designed to meet you at any and all points of your breastfeeding journey.
To ensure a successful lactation consultation, please complete the Parent Registration form on MilkNotes prior to your visit. This is where we’ll communicate and where you’ll receive your Care Plan within 24 hours. Remember to update your chart before each appointment as it helps me prepare for our consultations. Email reminders will be sent to you at this time.
Before our appointment, please start a full feed or “snack” for your baby at least 2 hours beforehand, although it’s okay if this doesn’t happen. If you have any weight concerns, a weighted feeding will be an important part of the assessment to identify potential issues.
To make the most of your appointment with a lactation consultant, take these steps to prepare:
- Write down your breastfeeding questions so you don’t forget them during the appointment.
- Observe your baby’s feeding habits, including how often and how long they nurse for, and whether they seem satisfied after feedings.
- Bring any necessary items, such as supplements or nipple shields.
- Wear comfortable clothing that allows easy access for feeding.
- Be open and honest about any breastfeeding concerns or challenges you’re experiencing.
Our office is located at 9409 Apison Pike Suite 101 Ooltewah, TN 37363. We have two types of nursing pillows and throw pillows available for support.

Can I bring other kids to our office appointment?
We love children! To ensure we get the best use of our time together, I ask that you don’t have other children at these visits. It can be a distraction and interfere with the quality time spent on reaching your nursing goals. Please let me know if you need to bring your children. I would be more than happy to serve you if you don’t have childcare.

- Cancelation policy:
Cancellation Policy:
We understand that plans can change unexpectedly and sometimes it is necessary to cancel a service or appointment. However, as a business, we have a limited schedule and resources that are reserved exclusively for our clients. Therefore, if you need to cancel your appointment or service with us with less than 24 hours notice, we will charge a $75 cancellation fee.
For breastfeeding consultations specifically, we would like to emphasize that canceling a consultation with less than 24 hours notice can be especially difficult for us as other mothers are often waiting for our services. These consultations are important to the health and well-being of both the mother and baby, and we make every effort to accommodate all of our clients.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation with our cancellation policy. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.
AFTER VISIT:
Following our visit, feel free to contact me via email or secure messaging on your Parent Portal. In case of emergencies, please prefer texting. I assure you a prompt response within 12 hours or less. Our lactation support service is available seven days a week, and all patients can access it via email or secure messaging on the portal.
Please check your junk mail folder as my emails sometimes end up there. I may communicate with you via email or the portal, depending on the situation. You will receive your care plan within 24 hours of the visit in the Parent Portal. If you are a current client, click here to access your patient portal and view your messages and care plans.
